Black vs. White

Apparently, on the day that Michael Brown was shot and killed in Ferguson, Missouri, there were several witnesses that saw what happened, all of those until a couple of days ago, appeared to be black. Some of the news media are quickly judging some of their statements, calling their character and integrity into question. But, just a couple of days ago two contractors, who happen to be WHITE, came forth as witnesses and said, "Indeed Mike Brown had is hands in the air" and "was shot down."
Now, their word is credible! What these two white men stated, had to be the truth and nothing but the truth, right?

Journalists, commentators, lawyers, law enforcement and the Federal Justice Department, is a white man's word valued more than a black man's word? Are the white men's word more credible because they don't have any ties to Ferguson? Are you quicker to believe what a white person says based on the principle, "they are white, so they must be right?" Since when does the TRUTH have a color.

  1. Amanda, I hate that things have to be black vs. white. I think that taking two people, one black, one white and asking the same question in relation to the same situation, then taking the white persons word just because he is white is a poor way of determining the truth. I am white...that don't mean I'm right...I'm wrong a lot and I admit it. A few things I see happening here: 1. A black guy was killed by a white cop in a black neighborhood. With the history of black oppression, slavery, segregation, the injustices....I think black people spoke out as emotional and maybe not rational. Maybe they did see hands up...but what they seen more was a white man killed a black man. 2. I seen the video with the white guys...from their distance and view, I'm not sure how credible they really are. You are right, the thing in common is both races allegedly seen the same thing. Maybe they used their testimony because they don't have that injustice connection. 3. I can say this for a fact. Only Michael Brown and God knows if his hands were up as surrender. I say this...not to discredit Mr. Brown or to justify the officer...Nobody has mentioned the theory that when you are angry you throw your hands up. Or very common, throw your hands up and say"what's up? what chu gone do?!" People ready to fight throw their hands up all the time. Did Mr. Brown do that or was it to surrender? Like I said....we will NEVER know because him and God only know.
